Terror Snake and Downie Wolf aka The Upbeats have teased new material for some time, but eschewing the traditional album route after 4 original long-players, their ‘De-Evolution’ project is a 3 part series released via Noisia’s Vision Recordings label in installments from 22 April until the end of 2016. Each release will contain 5 new original tracks, with Part 1 comprising ‘Dungeon’, ‘Elevator’, ‘Doom’, ‘Dr Kink’, and ‘Pharaoh’ (a collaboration with Ivy Lab).

The Upbeats’ unique and organic take on 170bpm+ bass music has seen them make their home in the highest echelons of dance music worldwide. Known for their organic and natural sounding drums, The Upbeats are a pillar in the DNB community. The duo have collaborated with stalwarts such as Noisia, Shapeshifter Bad Company, and Mefjus to name a few. In September 2014, their collaborative EP with Shapeshifter, ‘Bloodstream’, reached no.1 in the NZ i-Tunes Charts 2 days after being released.

They have released on major dnb labels including RAM Records, Virus, Blackout and Vision Recordings along with remixing heavy weights such as Ed Rush & Optical, Black Sun Empire, Noisia, Bad Company, and Mutated Forms. 2014 saw them remix Submotion Orchestra’s single, ‘Trust Lust’, for Counter Records/Ninja Tune which was widely praised. In August 2015, they released a new collaborative EP, ‘Dead Limit’ with Noisia, which turned the entire scene on its head. The title track won them best track at the DNB Arena Awards. They are currently in the studio composing their next works to be released over 2016 in 3 distinct parts. The series is called De-Evolution. They will be kicking things off with a branded tour of Australia and New Zealand in April/May 2016.

Clocking up over a hundred shows a year The Upbeats have played at major festivals worldwide including EDC (Vegas), Pukkelpop (Belgium), Urban Art Forms (Vienna), Supersonic (India), Exit Festival (Serbia), Outlook Festival (Croatia) and are a staple at the famous Noisia Invites shows and tours, Northern Bass (NZ). They will be at the famous Boomtown Fair, and Dour Festivals amongst many others this summer.
