Anyone who follows modern electronic music should be pretty excited about this one – the electronic music world’s No 1 live act according to Resident Advisor is coming to Hong Kong.

Recondite is one of the most innovative producers working in techno today worldwide and PUSH are finally bringing his mind-bending live set to HK after a huge year that has seen him perform at events including Lost in a Moment and Time Warp.

A longtime collector of music, Lorenz Brunner had his first experience with drum machines and hardware synths just a few years ago in a small studio next to the forest in lower Bavaria. It wasn’t long after that he moved to Berlin to establish his name. His first releases grabbed the attention of Scuba, who quickly put out two Recondite remixes on Hot Flush.

"On Acid", Recondite’s full-length debut, was delivered in 2012 via the sleek Los Angeles imprint Acid Test, and the positive feedback led to the release of his sophomore LP and first release on Ghostly International, "Hinterland". The album acknowledges the finest moments in his previous releases and perfectly captures the personality of his forested hometown in southeastern Bavaria.

By releasing further EPs on Innervisions ("Psy”) and on Dystopian (“Nadsat”) as well as through his worldwide live gigs, Recondite has evolved into a powerful force in modern techno, developing a sound that somehow manages to be both light and dark, and warm and cold.

In naming him their top live act of 2014, Resident Advisor said: “Using a laptop, a controller and parts to hundreds of his tracks, Brunner nimbly improvises with loops, reacting to the club and the crowd in much the way a DJ would. This keeps his sets fresh and dynamic, while the material itself, sleek and dramatic as it is, lends them an ineffable sense of depth. The end result is often spellbinding – and undoubtedly deserving of the top spot.”

Prepare to be spellbound when PUSH presents Recondite at Volar on Wednesday September 30 – the day before the National Day public holiday – with PUSH residents Frankie Lam, Lukas and AKW in support.
