Rye Baby:

Based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, this high energy folk/americana duo has been hard at work traveling and playing their brand of back-to-the-basics folk/roots/blues/country music all over the southeast since early 2014. Consciously taking elements from the aforementioned styles and creating something distinctly their own as-opposed-to rehashing a particular sound. This sonic backdrop lends itself beautifully to Jennifer's unique perspective on storytelling.

Jennifer Brumlow and Callie Harmon met at a band competition in mid 2012 and were brought together by their love of old country and roots music. By early 2013 their friendship had blossomed into a romantic relationship. Their previous musical endeavors had also dissolved. So, the two began working on material together, playing locally, and honing their craft before settling on their name and beginning work on their first recordings.

Their debut E.P., "Cowboy Chords" was written, produced, and recorded (on an iPad) by the band throughout 2014 and was made available online as each song was completed. A final professionally mastered version is set to be released by early 2015.

Bird in Hand:

Folk husband and wife duo, Bryan and Megan Thurman, have been around music for a long time. Though their tastes are very similar, the paths which led them to make music together differ. "I've always been a bass man," said Bryan, "and I've played in bands for the better part of my life. I've been involved in musical projects ranging from punk to southern metal, even hip-hop, and I've finally found myself in love with the honesty of folk and the story-telling element of old-time music." For Bryan, his place in most bands have been of backbone and rhythm, never a front man. "Being the key song writer for this band has been a great outlet for expressing many of the inspirations and experiences that make up not only me, but Megan's story as well." This year, the young couple will have been together for a decade. Megan Thurman, a strong lover of music herself, has always been one content to watch the show from the crowd or from behind many a merch table. "I've always supported Bryan in every band he was in. And I'm kind of shy, I never really thought of hitting the stage myself." However it was a three month honeymoon trip across the country in their '78 Volkswagen Westie that inspired new songs and a greater partnership in music. "A lot of times we were really just stuck on the side of the road and Bryan would grab the guitar and we'd just sing."

The songs Bird in Hand write are about us all; about love, loss and life on the road. They speak of the way we feel and hopefully sometimes a greater example of how we all should live. Maybe a little simpler, a little more joyous and a lot more musical. Bryan, armed with his guitar, light-hearted stage banter and unique vocal style and Megan, armed with a mandolin and some would say, classic Nashville sound, bring pretty harmonies and fast-paced rhythms, and a message to each person they meet.
