The cast of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be led by X Factor winner and pop sensation Joe McElderry as ‘The Man in the Mirror’.
Joe McElderry has been described as having a ‘24-carat voice’. Having auditioned for The X Factor at the age of just 18, he wowed audiences and quickly gained the number one slot in the UK charts with ‘The Climb’. Joe returned to television in 2011 to win Popstar to Opera Star with a landslide victory, achieving 80% of the vote and in 2014 Joe was crowned king of the slopes as winner of Channel 4’s The Jump. Aside celebrity status amassed from his TV appearances, Joe has released five albums, confirming him as a hugely important recording artist and talented songwriter. Joe has performed live for Her Majesty the Queen at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall and is currently touring the UK on his 60-date Evolution Tour. Joe has also announced he is set to star in the title role of rock musical Tommy in Blackpool this September.
Michael Harrison, managing director of Qdos Entertainment’s pantomimes division and executive producerof Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs said, “We are thrilled to announce that Joe McElderry will head the cast of this year’s New Theatre pantomime. Joe will be offering the Wicked Queen some wise words of advice from aboard a giant flying mirror, and there will be plenty of opportunity for audiences to hear Joe’s outstanding singing talents in a show packed with musical numbers”
