Party: Sim Simma Afrobeat Special w/ Dr. Ed + Residents

A night for all you Fela cuties, we're celebrating the sounds of Africa this week at Sim Simma, with a very special guest.

Dr. Ed came up playing rolling jungle 12s and arguing about 90s hiphop, first cutting his teeth deejaying with legendary Irish sound BassBin. After an apprenticeship playing bloodclart breaks he had to take a break when it went all DnB, spending a few years world and mind-travelling, and hearing the word of the black president Fela Rasome Kuti he came back on the scene committed to play the Underground Spiritual Game, setting up Saudade Afrobeat to play every shade of Afrobeat from Mande to Mbaqanga, Highlife to Zulu. Saudade started packing dancefloors with crazy afro breaks from the dark continent at a time in history when many paths were beginning including Dublin Afrobeat Ensemble and later Ajo Arkestra and Yankari. The Spirit of Fela is alive and well in Dublin town.
