Party: Groove Gully Live - Funk Jazz

Groove Gully is a Mumbai-based, assorted mix of talented musicians, that specialize in Jazz and Funk .

Formed in November 2012, they started out as a four piece band called FourPlay. The current line up is Zian Alphonso on lead vocals[female], Tizaan Alphonso on keys, lead vocals[male], Nevin Dmello on lead guitar,Vivian Dsouza on bass and David Dsouza on drums & percussions.

They placed 2nd out of 40 other bands in the Band Event of IIT Powai & 39;s festival Mood Indigo, 2012. The lead singers Zian and Tizaan have placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the all-India CBS PRIME IDOL CONTEST 2012 which was aimed at promoting fresh talent from all over the country.

Having played at diverse venues like Hard Rock Café, Blue Frog (Mumbai), Blue Frog (Pune), Out of the Blue,The Little Door (Mumbai), The Little Door(Pune), Café Shisha(Pune), St. Regis Hotel, The Taj, Three Wise Monkeys, The Local, The Bandra Base, High Street Phoenix, Celebrate Bandra 2014, The Andrean Fair 2015,and a couple of church fêtes. The band recently had a 4-day tour to Goa in Jan 2016, playing some jazz and funk at many venues like Sea Breeze Café(Anjuna beach), Café Jazz (Candolim), Soro (Assagaon) and The Stonehouse (Candolim).

On 13th August 2013 the band launched their first album Take A Chance; at Blue Frog and have signed with the record label, Crescendo Music and marketed by Universal Music. Music Videos of their 2 top hits on their album, “Over You” and “Miss Complicated” will be out very soon.

They have been interviewed live on Drive Mumbai with Erica on 94.3 FM and 4 songs from their album were played on air. You can catch their songs on the show &;Indie-Thursdays with TJ Sidhu on 94.3 FM.

They were also featured in the Bombay Times section “Band stand”.

The band has recently recorded a video for VH1 Music Diaries, performing their original, “Spontaneity”, from their album “Take A Chance” which was aired live on VH1 India on 13 th March, 2016.

As a band they constantly evolve songs and adapt it to their own style adding elements of jazz, blues, funk, pop & rock. They also like exploring different styles of music, using different influences from varying genres and creating original compositions while staying true to their musical creativity.

Their influences include, Snarky Puppy, The Dave Weckl Band, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Al Jarreau,Rachael Ferrell, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, John Scofield, Shakatak, Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, etc.
