Party: Easter Mardi Gras Special w/ J Felix (DJ) & The Brass Funkeys

This time of year, for us Anglo-Saxon folk, its cold, its wet, its dark and everyone looks miserable. And yet on the opposite side of the globe in New Orleans and South America, its 100% party time - semi-naked people, wasted on Caipirinhas and frozen Daiquiris, dancing in the street to feel-good Latin and Jazz beats for days on end!

While they make Mardi Gras the biggest party on the calendar, we just make (often failed) pancakes with a bit of lemon juice and sugar to soften the blow. Just because the quirks of living on a sphere that rotates on an axis several degrees off vertical gives them better weather at this time of year, why should they have all the fun? Right?

So, here's the deal - we can't bring the sunshine.... but we've sorted everything else! That’s why this Easter, we’re bring the sounds and sights of a Mardi Gras to East London with the helping hands of Live Brass Band - Brass Funkeys and a DJ set from J Felix as well as Just Juice, Our Party and Wild Life residents.

This is the HOTTEST place to be this Easter Thursday and we can’t wait to party with you.

Tickets: £5 ADV / £8 & £10 OTD

Date: Thursday 13th April

Times: 8pm – 2am

Expect: A Mix of funk, jazz, reggae, Soul, House, Disco and of course dixie.

Artists:
Brass Funkeys
The Brass Funkeys are based on a New Orleans style marching band. Boasting a setup of Sousaphone, Trombones, Trumpets, Saxophone and Percussion. They draw from the traditions of New Orleans with skilled musicianship, rolling from spirited second line revelry to soulful jazz funeral marches and brass driven funk.

Reggae, hip hop, gypsy, swing and Latin influences are exposed in an eclectic live show revealing a band bursting at the seams with ideas and infectious energy.
J Felix
Originally from Bristol, J.Felix grew up on the DIY sounds of Trip Hop D’n’B, Hip-Hop and Reggae/DUB. Self- taught multi-instrumentalist/ singer with an addiction to funk after listening to the likes of Prince, George Clinton and James Brown through digging for the source of original Hip-Hop samples. Now based in Brighton. Love Jazz and plays with Brighton Jazz/Hip-Hop collective, The E.M.E as well UK soul singer, Alice Russell. Now touring with his own live band as well as DJ’ing he brings an eclectic feel to every event he is part of.
