Party: AZURE: Duke Chinese Dance Showcase

Come support Duke Chinese Dance as we perform right here on campus in Reynolds Theater! We'll be featuring all of our pieces from this season, as well as many surprise guest performances. Stay in touch and we'll keep you updated!

Our showcase theme this year is AZURE, which refers to the mythical Chinese creature, the Azure Dragon. Known as one of the four divine creatures that guard the world, the Azure dragon controls the clouds and the rain, bringing life and prosperity into the lands it protects. It is a symbol of imperial power for all emperors and dynasties, and even in present day China, it continues to be a symbol for strength and peace. This year’s DCD Showcase aims to unveil the rich history behind the dances displayed. We chose the name AZURE because it not only represents the glory and struggles of ancient China, but also signifies the importance of history, culture and unity in present day China.
